Things to do

Clinton, Missouri is located in the beautiful Golden Valley about half way between Kansas City and Springfield. Make a visit or make it your home; you'll never run out of things to do! We are conveniently located at the intersections of Highways 7, 13, 52 and 18, about 45 minutes off of 71 Highway.

  • Katy Trail - Clinton is proud to be home of the Katy Trail State Park. The trail head is located near the Hwy 13 bypass over 52 Hwy on the north side of town. Near the trail head you will find the community center with restrooms and showers, a jogging track, workout facilities and an indoor aquatic center. Downtown is only a couple miles away, and what a vibrant downtown it is! Here you will find public outside accessible (heated/cooled) restrooms at the Depot, restaurants, the Henry County Library, the Henry County Museum, banks, Downtown DeSoto, the Dorman House and retail stores.
  • Truman Lake - Only about 10 minutes away, Truman Lake is a hot spot for locals and tourists alike. You'll be pleased to find boating, camping and the best fishing around. We often have fishing tournaments in the warmer months. Because it isn't too commercialized and thus as crowded as the Lake of the Ozarks, Truman Lake is great place to have fun fishing and boating with the family.
  • Shopping - Clinton offers a variety of shopping spots, including antique stores and retail stores. Be sure to come shopping in our historic downtown, just two miles off Highway 13. Near the south Hwy 13 & Hwy 7 intersection you will find the Cedar Shopping Center and Truman Lake Mall.
  • Community Center - If you're into fitness at all, you absolutely must check this out. Just a few years old, our community center has an indoor track and workout facilities, not to mention the gym and indoor aquatic center. Need a shower after a workout? They have those too.
  • Museum, Dorman House & Dogtrot Cabin - Henry County, Missouri has fascinating history. You will find the Henry County Museum located on the northwest corner of the Square, at the intersection of Jefferson and Washington Streets. The Dorman House, the oldest house in town, is just west of the Museum. Between the two sits the Dogtrot Cabin, which you won't want to miss! Be sure to stop in the museum and take a step back in time.
  • Wineries & Vineyards - Red Fox Winery & Vineyards is located in Urich, MO, just a few miles from Clinton on 7 Hwy. There you will find a wine-tasting room, vineyards and an herb garden.
  • Movie Theater - The Missouri Cinema 6 sits just off Ohio Street near the south intersection of Hwy 13 and Hwy 7. You will find it behind Walgreen's, Movie Gallery and Sonic. Missouri Cinema 6 is one of the only rural movie theaters in the nation to feature six screens and not one, but two digital projectors, where you can come see 3D digital movies!
  • Bowling Alleys - Clinton has two bowling alleys, Meadowlark Lanes and Strike Zone Family Fun Center. Meadowlark Lanes is located near the north intersection of 7 & 13 highways, while Strike Zone is located near the south intersection of the two highways. Strike Zone just opened July 31, 2009 and offers twelve lanes of bowling, along with a restaurant and bar.
  • Roller Skating - Twilight Family Skate Center is new to Clinton. Located on Business 13, the facility  offers a great family atmosphere and lots of fun!
  • Dining - If you're hungry you've come to the right place! Whether you're looking for something light, a big meal, or anything that's just plain good, we have options. You'll find restaurants all over town, primarily situated on Ohio and 2nd Streets, with several on the Square just off 2nd Street.
  • Skate Park - The skate park is directly behind the Community Center.
  • Dog Park - The dog park is behind the Community Center. This is a great place to take your people and other dog-friendly dogs for a romp and play. Parking is close and there are benches inside the park. Be sure to stop in the community center and register your pet on your first visit.
  • Parks - Optimist Park is located just off Green Street and Franklin Street less than a mile from Highway 7. Artesian Park is in the southwest part of Clinton near the outdoor swimming pool. Both parks offer shelter houses and such, although Artesian is a bigger park if you're looking for more to do. It has more larger shelter houses, more playground equipment, and tennis courts.
  • Ball Fields - You will find baseball and softball fields just off Highway 7 and Hwy 52 across from the Community Center, at Optimist Park (less than a mile from those just mentioned) and across from the swimming pool in Artesian Park.
  • Swimming Pool - The outdoor pool is located in Artesian Park in the southwest part of town. Slides were recently added, making it more fun than ever before!
  • Aquatic Center - The indoor aquatic center is adjacent to the Community Center on Sedalia Ave, just off Green Street/Hwy 52, less than a mile from Hwy 7/Hwy 13. You'll find slides, a pool and a whirlpool. We're very proud of this new addition to our community!
  • Hunting - Clinton and the surrounding area is a very popular destination during hunting seasons. With so much land inhabited only by trees and brush and nature, there is plenty of land for the wild game to roam. Turkey and deer are two of the most popular types of game.
  • Fishing - Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Truman Lake is a very busy place! Between the bass tournaments and leisurely fishermen, the Lake gets a steady stream of traffic. Because it isn't commercialized like the Lake of the Ozarks, Truman is a quieter, better place to fish. There are even some good fishing spots near trees and brush where you'll have the fish all to yourself.
  • Heartland Community Theatre plays - The Heartland Community Theatre generally puts on a couple of plays per year, each running for two weekends in a row.
